Pendant Lights

   A pendant light sometimes called a drop ,or suspender is a lone light fixture that hangs from the ceiling usually suspended by a cord, chain or metal rod. Pendant lights are often used in multiples hung in a straight line over kitchen counter tops and dinette sets or sometimes in bathrooms but lately pendants are being used for lighting in other areas as well.

  If installing in a kitchen area there are different types of kitchen area there are different types of kitchen pendant lights.

1) Task Lights> is lighting that illuminates a targeted area to help see clearly.

2) Ambient> General Lighting that gently illuminates the whole room or area rather than targeting a spot.

3) Accent>Accent lighting highlights a design feature such as an art piece or a beautiful material. If you have a beautiful wood or stone counter top a splash of light will help bring out the different tones of the material.

4) Decorative>This is lighting that exists to be a decorative feature either the fixture itself the sparkle or shadow it produces or both.

  First when it comes to choosing pendant lighting decide how much light you need as sizing matters to avoid poor lighting. Install pendant lights 28 to 36 inches above the surface to be lighted. Pendant Lighting installed correctly makes a big statement to any room or area.
